Primarily known for his work in DC, I saw for first time Rags Morales' work in Identity Crisis, and now he is currently in the forefront through his work on Action Comics with Grant Morrison on DC's relaunch.

Yesterday I did a few changes in the blog, you can see a new background, more or lessin line with the content of the blog.

We are about to finish the first month of the year, but is a good moment to think about the best films of last year (in most of them I link you my reviews):

Rise of the Planet of the Apes/El origen del planeta de los simios: Lo que a primera vista parecía una película que quería sacar algo de dinero de la saga, llegó a convertirse en una de las sorpresas más agradables del año. What at first sight seemed to be a movie that just wanted to make some money with its title, it's one of the best movies of 2011 and very good surprise.

I usually don't watch Woody Allen movies (however I've liked 2 or 3), and I didn't think that I was going to like this one, but it's one of the best of 2011 for me, magic and universal.

X-men first class: La esencia de los mutantes como nunca se ha visto para reiniciarlos en la gran pantalla. The essence of the mutants as we never have seen them to reboot them on the big screen.

Spies in the cold war.

Drive: Noir noir.

Attack the Block: Aliens en el bloque. Aliens in the block.

Las aventuras de Tintin, el secreto del unicornio/The adventures of Tintin: Tintin cobra vida gracias a Spielberg y Jackson. Tintin comes to live thanks to Spielberg and Jackson.

Second movie by Ducand Jones, and with some limitations in the story (in a good meaning), he keeps giving us a good science fiction movie.

One of the best comedies of the year.

I'm trying this "new" tumblr (I'm still tinkering with templates, and other stuff). Although don't worry (the few followers that I have here), this does not change anything regarding the activity of this blog, the tumblr is going to be a mix between what I do  here and on the facebook page of the blog, more links, videos and weird-funny-curious images and who knows what else...

The girl with the dragon tattoo

No voy a entrar mucho a comparar.

I will not compare it with the Swedish movie or the book. Three years ago I read the book and then I saw the Swedish film. Clearly the book was better, as usually happens, but it was not a bad adaptation (although there were some changes I remember being particularly annoyed to me). I'm not a fan of the series, I just read the first part (and probably, I will read the other two some month or year, I have no hurry to read or to see the Swedish adaptations or a possible future American one), I think that Mikeael and Lisbeth are interesting characters and at least the story of the first book is good and entertaining, but I do not think that it is good enough to get all the attention it has received. But hey, having Fincher as its director,  it could be interesting to see this new adaptation.

Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) is a financial journalist eager to restore his honor after being convicted of defamation. Contacted by one of the wealthiest businessmen in Sweden, Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer), to clarify the disappearance of his beloved niece Harriet Vanger, who he believes that was killed by one of the members of his family. Simultaneously, Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), an unusual but ingenious investigator, is hired to find out the history of Blomkvist, a task that ultimately leads her to join Mikael in his investigation into the murder of Harriet Vanger. Although Lisbeth tries to protect herself from a world that has betrayed her again and again, her  hacking skills and ability to focus and unwavering determination, make her essential to the investigation. They begin to draw a string of murders from the past to the present, forging a fragile thread of trust.
So we have the same thing again (They should have waited a little longer to remake it). The truth is that once the plot is presented and Mikael and Lisbeth start working together, the pace quickens and the film is almost
frenetic until the resolution of the main plot. Good performance of Rooney Mara, with a fragile and human but also hard and "lethal" Lisbeth (I'm not going to discuss who did it better,  Rooney or Noomi Rapace). Daniel Craig is also good in the movie (better than in his last roles).

In conclusion, It is a good film and a proper adaptation by Fincher, perhaps not at the level at which we are used to when we see Fincher's movies, but it is still a good entertainment and
the script is true to the original book (although there are some small changes to the plot, by the way, in the Swedish coffee shops you can not buy cigarettes). I you are a fan or you have not watched the Swedish movie you will like it.
